This week we sat down with Erin Brockovich. Ring a bell? You might recognize her from the wildly popular movie, Erin Brockovich. If you haven’t seen it, you should. It’s amazing.

While Erin is mostly recognized as an activist (and she’s a great one), she’s also very active in the health and fitness community where she’s on a mission to make America healthy again. For Brokovich, making America healthy again is all about looking at alternative sources to living and eating better.

Right up our alley.

“Become your own hero. Believe in yourself. Take care of yourself. Nobody is going to do that for you.”

Today we sat down with Erin and talked about food, exercise, and the two key takeaways that beginning biohackers can start applying to their lives. Here’s a quick look.

1. NUTRITION AND FITNESS GO HAND IN HAND.

Nutrition and fitness will always be an experiment because our individual biologies are unique to us. When it comes to eating right and getting in shape, it comes down to how we feel, and then optimizing based on that feeling.

2. BE RESPECTFUL OF THE TRANSITION.

Our bodies are in a constant state of change. That’s ok. It’s part of nature. But be respectful of that transition. If you’re starting to get in shape, don’t bite off more than your body can chew. Don’t jump into marathon training or the next Spartan Race. Instead, begin with stretching or walking. It’s amazing how walking in the sunlight can connect us to life and nature.

“Nothing is more important than our health. We need to look at how we change our food habits, our minds, our thinking, and our perceptions.”
